ABRIACHAN EVENTS

MORE STORMS ARE FORECAST SO PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE UNSTABLE TREES IN THE FOREST, AROUND THE CAR PARKS, ALONG THE BIKE TRAILS, ON THE WAY UP THE HILL.....DO YOUR OWN RISK BENEFIT ANALYSIS BEFORE SETTING OUT!

IF IT IS WINDY PLEASE PARK OUT OF THE CAR PARK AND KEEP AWAY FROM THE SWAYING TREES....OR WHAT'S LEFT OF THEM! IT MAY LOOK A DISASTER ZONE AT THE MOMENT BUT WE ARE SEEING IT AS AN OPPORTUNITY>>>>LOTS OF DAYLIGHT, FAR MORE FLORA AND FAUNA, TONS OF FIREWOOD, PLANKS APLENTY, HECTARES OF REGEN. ....AND A NATIVE TREE ARBORETUM.

Highlife Highland have generously funded the Written World series of writing weekends again this year. Imbolc or Candlemas weekend saw Anne MacLeod lead a lovely two days of between seasons inspiration and guidance producing some fantastic writing from all participants. Please get in touch with Malcolm at Moniack Mhor or Christine at Abriachan if you wish information about the remaining weekends.

Janis Breckenridge surprised us all with her bookmaking workshops in January. This weekend was as a complimentary alternative to the writing weekends and resulted in many of us getting paranoid about our pigs' ears as we folded, creased, concertinaed, bound and popped up. Yet another absolutely brilliant tutor who will be back we are sure!

Don't miss the 2013 End of Year Ceilidh...everybody welcome to come and join in with Buskoesike - a very entertaining evening is promised.

AFTER THE STORM LAST THURSDAY MORNING (6/12/13) MANY OF THE PATHS AND BIKE TRAILS ARE BLOCKED BY LEANING LODGEPOLE - THIS WILL TAKE A WHILE TO CLEAR SO PLEASE BE PATIENT AND SENSIBLE.

All participants at Bryce's skep style workshop had a relaxing day and now have a new use for giant's darning needles, plastic bottles of a specific brand and birch twigs harvested and dried most particularly!

The Beechgrove Gardeners have come and gone at Moniack Mhor's community garden and they missed our magnificent produce show on Saturday! Here are some of the fantastic displays set out in the hall.

The judges commented that the standard of presentation had improved a lot over the years.

This year Emily was auctioneer - keen interest in what to bid for...Connie's cakes sold per slice!

Potato quality was excellent all round - a keenly fought contest with more than one winner.

Anna playing Canute controlling the tides in her and Eve's prize winning miniature garden and below Kirsten and Phoebe's beautiful basket garden complete with family enjoying the fine summer weather.

....there were quite a few artistically decorated biscuits but they were scoffed before any photos could be snapped and long before the auction. Well done to everybody who took part, who organised and who helped make the day such a success.
